Starring Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek, Malick’s neo-noir directorial debut BADLANDS announced the arrival of a fresh new voice in American cinema. Intent on seeing the Cahulawassee River before it's turned into one huge lake, outdoor fanatic Lewis Medlock (Burt Reynolds) takes his friends on a river-rafting trip they'll never forget into the dangerous American back-country.

BADLANDS

An impressionable teenage girl (Spacek) from a dead-end town and her older greaser boyfriend (Sheen) embark on a killing spree in the South Dakota badlands.
